The Griffin is 3 colored, whereas this is mono colored. The Griffin requires that your opponents be doing the damage to you to grow. This can be used proactively with cards like Night's Whisper. In fact, this card basically says, "When you lose life, target opponent loses that much life." That seems outrageous, but its actually stronger than that since it does that much extra damage every turn.

I think its still prinatable, but its way stronger than Retaliator Griffin. I actually think the correct mana cost is BBBB, since a blacker effect is probably not to be found anywhere.Lefhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17314232061312529400noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5479847193762153273.post-73016583436265677102015-07-10T19:16:20.363-04:002015-07-10T19:16:20.363-04:00The second ability I think will be frustrating sin...The second ability I think will be frustrating since you would at first think it synergises with the first, when in fact it doesn't. It turns out that making effect +1/+1 counters is really really strong. Oh course that card was trying to do other things, so here its probably fine. I like the first card more as a rare. It'll be strong, but to me its Siege Rhino strong. The second definitely feels more like a mythic.Lefhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17314232061312529400noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5479847193762153273.post-23327872099552465142015-07-09T17:28:25.519-04:002015-07-09T17:28:25.519-04:00I like the first version a lot more. The second one having life loss in its extra ability is going to mislead people into thinking that does something with its first ability, and then make them feel a little disappointed when they realize it doesn't.Diane Heatonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02442898679291580176noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5479847193762153273.post-20292557205490967982015-07-09T16:58:43.635-04:002015-07-09T16:58:43.635-04:00Yes.Yes.Jay Treathttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09428861685923241850noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5479847193762153273.post-17646030612514560392015-07-09T16:56:45.863-04:002015-07-09T16:56:45.863-04:00(Sorry if that came off snarky, I was typing on my...(Sorry if that came off snarky, I was typing on my phone so I was trying to be brevitous, but it came off ruder than I intended)Tommy Occhipintihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13495646355536064735noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5479847193762153273.post-20189277848053523482015-07-09T16:54:31.617-04:002015-07-09T16:54:31.617-04:00Do you understand that damage caused loss of life?...Do you understand that damage caused loss of life?Tommy Occhipintihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13495646355536064735noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5479847193762153273.post-186580352571638302015-07-09T16:16:48.037-04:002015-07-09T16:16:48.037-04:00There's no reason mythic cards can't be el...There's no reason mythic cards can't be elegant, too (:
I like the first one.
