XR Fireball cards are just so terrible at keeping up with the curve, but this can trade evenly on mana at basically any point on the curve, and happens to have the same face-bashing qualities a normal Fireball.

Even if a deck wants a Fireball effect, I don't think you can really afford to run more than a couple of the traditional Fireball-esque cards. With as efficient as this is, I think you can comfortable run 4 (which is scary).Sagehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02090253014943762842noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5479847193762153273.post-29226964185115266462018-09-06T11:57:48.991-04:002018-09-06T11:57:48.991-04:00I love how the metagame changes the power level of...I love how the metagame changes the power level of this card so dramatically. On Alara, this card is a bad card. On Shadowmoor, this can define the format.zefferalhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13845251416516553492noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5479847193762153273.post-90173607884654553802018-09-06T11:50:02.224-04:002018-09-06T11:50:02.224-04:00A 0 mana spell that also kills creatures if you sp...A 0 mana spell that also kills creatures if you spend a bit of mana? ...why am I thinking about Storm applications?Jenesishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05356037137564501914noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5479847193762153273.post-89684353245286062902018-09-06T11:47:15.168-04:002018-09-06T11:47:15.168-04:00I P1P1 this and try to make red my main color, but...I P1P1 this and try to make red my main color, but even if it's not, 7 lands is pretty typical for an off color. Sorcery speed 3 damage to a thing on turn 6ish (assuming you draw a 50/50 land split) is not great, but still playable. Any way you have to increase access to mountains makes it better.

Would you P1P1 Jaws of Stone?Jenesishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05356037137564501914noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5479847193762153273.post-9455990542314557042018-09-06T04:27:21.924-04:002018-09-06T04:27:21.924-04:00In Limited I wouldn't play this unless I had 6...In Limited I wouldn't play this unless I had 6+ mountains I think. Really want to be able to consistently generate at the very least 2 red mana for this to be worth playing.

I think that just makes this card more interesting though. I don't think this is p1p1 at all, and will require more strategic drafting to maximize its potential.
Isaohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04032882984602067306noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5479847193762153273.post-10021799239854948802018-09-06T04:23:59.795-04:002018-09-06T04:23:59.795-04:00You can spend any colour of mana on Crater's C...You can spend any colour of mana on Crater's Claws though, and only red on this. That's a significant restriction: devotion to red is necessary, and the spell is FAR less splashable.Isaohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04032882984602067306noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5479847193762153273.post-13925589069980023502018-09-05T20:55:37.191-04:002018-09-05T20:55:37.191-04:00Crater's ClawsCrater's Clawszefferalhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13845251416516553492noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5479847193762153273.post-45929510169471893942018-09-05T17:22:01.448-04:002018-09-05T17:22:01.448-04:00Crater's Claws Suggests that this is fine. This card is already quite flexible and is a serious, serious threat in a mono-red deck.Sagehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02090253014943762842noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5479847193762153273.post-33783318555877816022018-09-05T15:48:31.708-04:002018-09-05T15:48:31.708-04:00If I were running 4 mountains in my deck, I'd ...If I were running 4 mountains in my deck, I'd play this.Jay Treathttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09428861685923241850noreply@blogger.com
