lorwyn wait aren't lorwyn and shadowmoor the same plane? its like saying which to you like better? the world when it is daytime or the world when it is nighttime?
According to planeschase, Lorwyn and Shadowmoor are separate planes. My theory is that Lorwyn / Shadowmoor are the same plane one a light realm and one a shadow realm that are somehow intertwined like a mobius strip or something. The inhabitants start on one plane (Lorwyn) and then the Great Aurora causes the people to move to the other plane that mirrors their realm (shadowmoor). This transition causes them to forget their former selves and become their shadow world self.
At the end of Eventide, the Great Aurora is no more, and both planes have fused, although the exact nature, and remaining species haven't been disclosed yet.
I only read the first two books, but I was under the impression that what was happening was that lorwyn and shadowmoor were two planes that "touched" each other essentially in the blind eternities, a binary plane if you will. Great Aurora was when the planes switched places as they were orbiting around each other. the inhabitants stayed in the same spot, it was the plane that moved. also the plane of lorwyn was draining mana from shadowmoor, which is why the decor was so different.
Erm... Kamigawa?
