Cool Card Design of the Day
Here's a rare to reward you for playing damage effects.

It's got double strike just to make growing it all the more tempting. Maybe that makes it mythic?

I wonder if "whenever a source you control deals noncombat damage" wouldn't be a clearer trigger.

  1. Reminds me of War Elemental, but it's different enough to be its own card. I think the double strike definitely makes it mythic. I would even make it legendary.

  2. For mythic, I could also see increasing the casting cost and making it "that many" counters.

I like your alternate trigger more because a creature dealing damage with an ability still counts the creature as the source I think. The alt's also a lot clearer.

  3. Personally I don't think cards like this are 'worth' mythic rarity. I think double strike is often overvalued in terms of rarity and leads to some pretty feel-bad cards to open. Personally, I don't think Warren Instigator and Prophetic Flamespeaker feel mythic at all, but they do feel really bad to open. Even Scourge Wolf felt bad and it was only rare.

I think double strike on this card moves it from Uncommon to Rare, and it would need another full ability to be considered Mythic-worthy.

    1. I tend to agree here. I'm curious as to how many triggers you'd actually manage to get off in a limited format. It depends on the nature of the set I'm sure.

Also, I like the suggested rewording.
