Design a card for Kaladesh or Aether Revolt with this art. Bonus points for
each of Johnny, Tammy, and Spike to whom it appeals strongly.

Sorcery
Target opponent chooses a number, then choose one:
* Create that many tokens with "this enters the battlefield as a copy of an artifact you control".
* Search your library for that many artifact cards, reveal them, and that opponent chooses one. Put that one onto the battlefield and shuffle the rest into your library.
Oops, edit: "that many artifact cards WITH DIFFERENT NAMES".
DeleteDoesn't really work - they can always fail to find more than the one that they want.
DeleteAlso, what about zero?
DeleteAgh, yes, also forgot "greater than zero" and "if you do".

Artifact - Rare
Tap two permanents you control named CARDNAME: Reveal a card at random from your hand. You may cast it without paying its mana cost.
I had a dream underneath a tree this afternoon, and in the dream I dreamt this card:
ReplyDelete2W
Sorcery
Create three artifact creature tokens with "This creature's power and toughness are equal to the number of artifact cards in your graveyard."
"Of course!" said I, in my dream: "Tokens are still artifacts in the graveyard, so this card is safe no matter what".
True story. I'll submit something realer later.
Dreams are the best.
DeleteTechnological Convenience 2
ReplyDeleteArtifact (R)
When Technological Convenience enters the battlefield, reveal your library. Target player chooses two card from your library and then you choose two cards. Exile those cards and shuffle your library.
Whenever you would draw a card, you may put one of those exiled cards into your hand at random.
It certainly has Spike and Jenny appeal, Come Timmy's enjoy jesters cap effects, so maybe there's appeal when their opponent plays it?
Also, check out my guest post if you haven't already and leave me feedback! Thanks http://goblinartisans.blogspot.com/2016/10/you-make-wube.html?m=1

You get {e}{e} then you may pay any amount of {e}. Scry X where X is the amount of energy you paid.
Draw a card.

ReplyDeleteCreature -- Human Advisor (unc)
When Confiscation Officer enters the battlefield, you may exile target artifact.
You may play from exile artifact cards exiled by creatures named Confiscation Officer.

It's missing J-appeal. So hard to hit all three notes!
DeleteHuh. The first thing I thought of is, "there's got to be some infinite loop there" (even though it's hard when you need to re-cast it, and it's not an artifact and you can only re-cast artifacts).
DeleteI'm bad at judging spike-appeal, but it seems too conditional, I'd rather eliminate my opponent's artifact than spend extra to sometimes massively win with it.
And I can sort of see the Timmy appeal, in stealing a GIANT MONSTER. But having to pay for it, and having to just wait till your opponent plays one, don't seem exciting.
You always eliminate the artifact! (it's exiled and does not return at any point)
DeleteI think T doesn't have to be all about giant monsters, big things. It's also about doing things that strongly communicate an effect -- that is, low rules barrier for strong emotion. I was aiming for a more chunky "steal" effect where it's not a smooth yoinking process but you really get the feeling I guess of TAKING FROM THEM and then USING FOR YOURSELF.
~
Oh, and I guess... while I'm talking about the potential appeal of my own card, I like that it rewards you for stealing small, reasonable things. Sure, you can wait for the big artifact... but if it's too big, will you even be able to cast it? Maybe it's better to take something you can actually afford and use!
Teleporter 5U
ReplyDeleteSorcery (R)
Up to two target creatures gain +2/+0 and have unblockable until end of turn. Untap them.
May be overcosted.
DeleteWould it be better at 3U?
DeleteI love the flavour!
DeleteI'm really bad at costing. But given existing cards like Taigam's Strike (and Teleportal), I'd guess 3U is about right.
Should it untap as a sorcery, how often will that matter?
I'm not a fan of Taigam's Strike as a color pie bleed. Really feels like a Blue/Red or mono Black card.
