CCDD 110217—Seeing Eye Wolf

Cool Card Design of the Day
11/2/2017 - This card walks the line between utility and efficiency. A 2/2 for two is nothing amazing for a green uncommon, but it's relevant enough to play in Limited. If you're stuck on land, this can help you find it. It can do that multiple times, but very slowly and without card advantage. The result is intended to be a card you're okay main-decking that can help you out in some sticky situations.

This is probably templated wrong (because it took me a while to figure out what I'd intended originally): The idea is that you can 'activate' this instead of playing your land for the turn, and doing so sets you up to definitely get a land next turn. Again, that's not as good an ability as Wood Elves' but it's also on a much more efficient creature.

At the beginning of your upkeep, you may reveal the top card of your library. If it's a nonland card, put it into your graveyard and repeat this process.
    2/2

That way if you play this on turn 2, you can be guaranteed to make your land drops from there on. It's also a nice graveyard shenanigan enabler?

    1. That is better. I wonder if it's too good at guaranteeing your land drop every turn, and/or filling your graveyard. Maybe just:

    2. Countryside Crusher gets to guarantee not mana flooding on a 3/3 body for three with a +1/+1 counter upside. This seems pretty safe. Drawing land is far worse in the late game, and then it's just a bear.

    3. Countryside Explorer could certainly be rare. Maybe even okay at least unc because you're still not guaranteed to draw it, and it's weak late.

  2. Dawntreader Elk seems like the better execution of this idea.

  3. Oh yes, I like that half-landsearch ability. You don't usually want cards where you give up your land drop but it makes perfect sense here. I like that you don't have to give up your two drop.
