6/26/2013 - The conditional card advantage of Faerie Mechanist and Augur of Bolas is great. It's far from guaranteed, but it is a chance you can optimize when you build your deck, and when it works it feels great. We need more of these. One for each of the common types. Blue shouldn't be getting extra creatures or enchantments. Who should?

When Augur of Everything Else enters the battlefield, look at the top three cards of your library. You may reveal a planeswalker or tribal card from among them and put it into your hand. Put the rest on the bottom of your library in any order.

Creature - Human Cleric - Rare
When CARDNAME enters the battlefield, look at the top three cards of your library. You may reveal an enchantment card from among them. If it is an Aura, you may put it onto the battlefield attached to CARDNAME. Otherwise, put it into your hand. Put the rest on the bottom of your library in any order.

Awesome.
ReplyDeleteYeah, honestly I'm surprised we haven't seen more of these. I think part of it may be that creatures are so pervasive that development can't give a creature one exciting stats, but Mechanist doesn't have that going for it either. Good work!
