CCDD 052714—Simple Hypnotism

Cool Card Design of the Day
5/27/2014 - This was my first pass at the art for the last Weekend Art Challenge, but it didn't fit the challenge requirements, so... here it is.

  1. Super Melvin bonus points for you!

But seriously, I like this a lot as a blue Oblivion Ring with upside. Might want to be rare, depending.

    1. Or 2UU, since it's too good not to splash.

  2. Pretty amazing against Vigilance. Maybe too amazing.

  3. Funny how nearly every version of a weaker/restricted Mind Control is still very good.
Instead of "Enchant Untapped Creature" could this be a regular Enchant Creature with "When enchanted creature becomes tapped, sacrifice CARDNAME"? It's a little functionally different because you can nab a tapped creature, but it's more in line with the likes of Domestication.

    1. It certainly could be. This is weaker (and shorter, if you don't count my reminder text). But yes, it really is funny how weaker Mind Controls are still very good. My favorite way to show how busted a card is.

    2. I like this version also because it's a bit more new player friendly, who might not know that the aura would fall if the creature becomes tapped with the first version.

  4. Why not let the new controller of the creature at least attack with it once? Domestication's gameplay seems correct here:

    Enchant creature
    You control enchanted creature.
At the beginning of your end step, if enchanted creature is tapped, sacrifice CARDNAME.

This also makes it less of a feel-bad moment when you accidentally attack with it on Magic Online and lose the aura and the creature.

  5. So, you control it for a turn when it is tapped, then your opponent gets it back untapped at your next untap phase? For 3U? It sounds like a much worse version of unsummon.

You could add "enchanted creature does not untap durring your untap step" and bump the cost to 2BB. It would be a slightly different version of claustrophobia that allows you to access any static and mana activated effects the card has.

    1. You can't take a tapped creature with this. You keep it as long as you don't tap it.

  6. Oups. Read it wrong. I should doublecheck before commenting, sorry. So you get a blocker in addition to the access to any static abilities. I am with Havelock on the cost, but still, a very interesting take on possesion.
