CCDD 110118—Call into Question

Cool Card Design of the Day
Here's a new way to make hybrid cards, good for a cycle or two: Modular cards with one effect of each color, where the opponent gets to choose the mode if you only pay one color, but you get to choose if you pay both.

  1. This doesn't work within the rules, since modes need to be chosen before targets or mana payments. You can get around this by using a "may... if they don't", but it's wordier.

    1. Choose target opponent and target spell that player controls.

If you payed U and B mana to cast ~, choose one. Otherwise that opponent choses one:
Chosen spell gains "this spell can't be countered" until end of turn.
Chosen opponent gains Hexproof until end of turn.

Woof, workable but a bit inelegant.
