  1. Total Defeat
    2BBB
    Sorcery - Rare
(Bottom right corner with the stabbing & corpses)
Exile up to two target creatures.

    1. It'd be interesting to see if this would be printed as an uncommon or a rare.

    2. Can you add a flavorful condition? If not, can you justify exile over destroy here?

    3. Just felt more "total" to me to exile. If you're interested in a story of brutality, we could try instead:

      Choose one:
      -Destroy two target creatures.
      -Exile target creature.

    4. I agree exile feels more 'total' but the art looks way more like destroy than exile.

The choice you added makes the card more interesting to play.

  2. Dreadnaught Demolition 2R
    Enchantment - Aura
    Enchant creature (u)
When ~ enters the battlefield, each player names a nonbasic land.
When enchanted creature deals damage to a player, he or she sacrifices a land with a chosen name.

    1. Very cool in multiplayer, for sure. Took me a moment to understand what it does, but once I had the "aha" moment it was intuitive enough.

    2. Can it just make them sack a nonbasic land and skip the names? (Maybe the answer on Commander is no? )

    3. There is something nice about saying "hey, there will be no urborg's today, thank you very much". Maybe in a commander product that focuses on auras for some reason/has a "pass this aura around" mechanic.

    4. But you still have to connect with a creature, so if that's your goal, I'd make a Blood Moon for the named lands.

  3. Dracon's Pillage 3RR
    (Dragon attacking the bridge)
    Sorcery (C)
Destroy target artifact or nonbasic land. If you do, create a 4/4 red dragon creature token with flying and haste. Exile that token at the beginning of the next end step.

    1. Like the story this tells a lot.

    2. Is the dragon better temporary?

    3. From an art standpoint, the focus is on the destruction, not the dragon. That leads me to say it's a spell, rather than a creature.

From a game standpoint, the card certainly couldn't make a permanent dragon if It wants to fit the common red sideboard answer hole in a skeleton. It'd be a fine, if unexciting, uncommon if it came with a permanent dragon. But I think I'd maybe remove the nonbasic qualifier or make the dragon larger first if I wanted a splashier effect.

    4. Adding a {R} to Demolition but getting most of a Lava Axe in return seems like a nice upgrade: We're further limiting how effectively you can mana screw your opponent, but giving you more reason to try to answer otherwise untouchable permanents. That the 'bonus' damage is conditional is probably wise (assuming lava axe is ever playable) and tying it all together via a dragon's wrath is fun and very flavorful.

I can imagine making an Acidic Slime dragon at uncommon too, but it would have to be more expensive or smaller. We could probably make this permanent as a rare, but if we needed Demolish for the format, a rare dragon with that effect isn't doing the job.

  4. Chaotic Precision W
    Instant - uncommon
~ deals 2 damage to target attacking or blocking creature.

~ deals 5 damage to that creature if it dealt damage this turn.

    1. This is really cool, although the window where you can deal 5 damage is really awkward.

      Delete
    2. I kind of like the tension of that awkwardness - whether you can afford to kill a bigger threat after you take a hit or just kill a smaller threat is pretty neat.

      Delete
    3. I like the tension! Just the Melvin in me realizes that most players don't understand the End of Combat step or if think they can only hit creatures before the creature deals combat damage.
      Maybe:
      Warning Shot W
      Instant
~ deals 2 damaged to target attacking or blocking creature. When that creature deals damage later this turn, ~ deals 3 damage to that creatures.

      So the timing is clearer.

    4. Might be tricky to clip this illustration so we see the archer and their target without losing focus. Other than that, I like the choice this offers and how both halves are sufficiently white.

      Not worried about the template:

      Choose one:
      • ~ deals 2 damage to target attacking or blocking creature.
      • ~ deals 5 damage to target creature that dealt damage this turn.

  5. Ruthless Momentum 2RR
    Enchantment (R)
    Creatures you control have haste.
Whenever a creature enters the battlefield under your control, target creature can't block until end of turn.

    1. All your creatures are Fervent Cathars. Seems printable. I'd play it.

(I almost want it require your creatures to attack; at least the ones that ETB'd this turn. But eh.)
