Suvnica Guild Profile: The Sahleen

(This is part of a series of documents that are meant to provide snapshots of each of the guilds. These documents will probably be updated with some regularity. They are meant to provide a starting reference point when developing new cards and ideas for the guilds.)

{G}{W} The Sahleen

The Sahleen are the priest caste of Suvncia. They function as spiritual advisors, teachers, and philosophers. They maintain temples throughout the plane, guiding their members on spiritual enlightenment and serenity.

Sahleen high priests have occasional prophesies which are instrumental in forming the guild's policies and goals. Each of their temples houses a champion, an individual that played a central role in their prophesies. Among the temple's primary functions are to help that champion reach her ultimate potential and realize the role destiny has chosen for her, and to protect her from others that may wish to see her destiny interrupted.

Sahleen are among the strongest proponents of the guildpact. They believe that its prevention of interguild conflict greatly benefits society, and that it helps individuals stick to the paths fated for them. While they accept tributes of food and gold from other guilds in exchange for the spiritual guidance or tutelage, non-Sahleen are forbidden from entering the inner-temple areas, a trespass punishable by death.

Opinions on the Guilds

  • {W}{U} Suiroza: Why would we be made so differently if it was our destiny to all be the same?
  • {W}{B} Zhavi: A stern teacher is always despised by his students, but the lessons he gives will remain forever.
  • {U}{B} Rimid: Everyone has a purpose. Everyone has a destiny. If they would stop fighting theirs, they may finally be able to free themselves of their burden.
  • {U}{R} Tezzi: The desire to fight against figures of authority is as natural as it is childish.
  • {B}{R} Radkar: They carry anger and spite around them, as though they were badges of honor. They will never be complete until they find peace within themselves.
  • {B}{G} Gilrog: Champions aren't built. They're chosen.
  • {R}{G} Grohm: Their spirit is admirable, and their stories full of wisdom, whether they realize it or not.
  • {R}{W} Sorba: It takes a strong will to protect those unable to protect themselves. But too often their motives are tainted by a desire for vengeance.
  • {G}{W} Sahleen: We teach, yes, but we also have much to learn. Our pursuit of understanding can only be complete once we are in harmony with ourselves and with the other guilds, but also only when they are in harmony with each other.
  • {G}{U} Kisme: They are gifted in divining what the future holds, and then they squander so much energy trying to change fate.
