Hey Artisans! Click through to see this weekend's design challenge. Your mission is to design a custom magic card that follows the guidelines. Over the course of the weekend, give feedback to your fellow designers on their designs and incorporate their feedback to iterate on your own. I'll try to offer some feedback of my own starting on Monday.

CCDD 051218—Hymn to Rot
Cool Card Design of the Day5/12/2018 - There are two problems that prevent Hymn to Tourach from being reprinted in new sets: The most egregious is that it can get lands and mana-screw players, which isn't fun; The other issue is that reliably nabbing two cards inherently costs 3+ mana.

CCDD 012417—Manhunt
Cool Card Design of the Day1/24/2017 - Why is this card mono-black when most cards with a random target are red?

CCDD 120214—Volcanic Musing
Cool Card Design of the Day12/2/2014 - Explosive Revelation meets Act on Impulse. Inspired by Reuben's Flare of Inspiration.
Sometimes you get one spell and sometimes you get a land as well. My favorite thing is that the less damage the revealed spell causes, the more likely you are to afford to cast it.

CCDD 051414—Chaostrike
Cool Card Design of the Day5/14/2014 - I wanted to mess with a random spell a bit. I've got three versions, each with merits and flaws, that appeal to different kinds of players.

CCDD 073113—Overcharge
Cool Card Design of the Day7/31/2013 - Lucky was pretty clearly the best mechanic presented as-is yesterday. I want to explore a variation of overcharge some more though, because I really think it has potential.
This version uses manaflow's reminder text, but all the spells have {X} in the cost, allowing you to count the base cost of the spell toward your potential free spell, improving your chances of success.

CCDD 032113—A Whack on the Side of the Head
Cool Card Design of the Day3/21/2013 - I was thinking how black is the only color that gets discard, and wondered how other colors could do it. I remembered how red often discards in order to draw, ala Goblin Lore. What if it could do that offensively? I set out to make a card like that and this is the result:
