I honestly don't remember why I thought this design was so interesting. The first ability was the result of brainstorming how
Obstinate Baloth-like effects, which green uses to punish discard, could be adapted to play well against
Distress-like targeted discard spells.
The flaw in this design is that it doesn't actually have an
Obstinate Baloth-like reward. So it only provides value if it's a mediocre card to take relative to others in your hand, and, well... in that case it's a mediocre card. As with many unusual designs, this is more likely to find a place in a focused combo deck than contribute to actual balanced gameplay. On the other hand, it would be a neat card for formats like Commander, since wheel effects are popular there and it punishes those very hard.
