CCDD 080416—Motivated

Cool Card Design of the Day
8/4/2016 - Creatures with ETB effects do a lot for the game, but the biggest issue with them is that players sometimes hold onto them despite needing the body because they want to get full value out of the effect. We should be able to alleviate that if a player can always gets value by playing their creature.

CCDD 033016 -- Cluebombs

Cool Card Design of the Day
03/30/16 - I'm a big fan of clues in SoI (although I'm still not convinced Investigate was necessary as a keyword), and I really like that there are a few cards that care about them as a subtype. I thought it would be interesting to make some nontoken clues (which include the cantrip ability).

CCDD 031015—Morning Mist

Cool Card Design of the Day
3/10/2015 - Morning Mist is a Fog variant. It doesn't prevent as much damage—on paper—but being one-sided might prevent one or more creatures from attacking for several turns.

CCDD 121814—Whisper of the Woods

Cool Card Design of the Day
12/18/2014 - The Fog variants from the last WAC made me realize there's been no simple Fog cantrip. For the most part, skilled drafters ignore Fog except as a sideboard response to cards like Overrun or Flying Crane Technique. Making it a cantrip should make it more main-deckable…

The trouble is that an efficient Fog cantrip would likely be just too good for Turbo-Fog, a deck that we're happy can exist, but is non-interactive enough that we don't want to ever be The Best Deck in any format.

CCDD 032014—Blind Levy

Cool Card Design of the Day
3/20/2014 - In some ways better and in some ways worse than Silence, Blind Levy exists because white has dabbled with cost-increase effects for a long time, but never at common. Ironically, this could easily prove broken below rare. At least it's simple.
