Cool Card Design of the Day
9/3/2013 - I did some travelling yesterday that afforded me the chance to catch up on some Drive to Work podcasts (Hey, I just found someone's been transcribing them. Nice!) The most inspiring one was he discussion of blue, which led to several designs I'll share soon. Today's card plays into blue's belief that, with time and dedication, anyone can become anything.
I was kind of shocked when it occurred to me that there had never been a Clone aura. It seems inevitable, especially given how well it expresses blue's color philosophy.
I'm curious, which art do you prefer for this card?
I prefer the first art.
ReplyDeleteRules clarification: The aura only works as long as the other creature is on the battlefield too, correct?
Does a Clone stop cloning a creature when it dies?
DeleteThe answer is the same, but your question raises a good point I forgot to mention: One good reason this aura doesn't already exist is that it really is more complex/confusing than Clone, despite working almost identically.
This seems like particularly potent removal; turn their best creature into whatever the crappiest thing on the battlefield is. I'd either up the mana cost or change it to "enchant creature you control."
ReplyDeleteOh. Heh.
DeleteThis should definitely be "enchant creature you control".
Thanks.
Given Cytoshape (and now Curse of the Swine), I could easily see this as enchant any creature, though it would have to be upped to rare.
DeleteCurse of the Swine is a terrifying development.
