CCDD 033017—Tactical Genius
Cool Card Design of the Day
3/30/2017 - Tactical Genius wants you to attack, or for your opponent to attack, or both. It's stats are tuned for survival: its own and that of enemy attackers. Give her enough combat data, and she'll start churning out plans to help you win the war.

3/29/2017 - Here's a keyword for suicide black and dead guy red. These colors care more about hurting their enemy than themselves, so they're happy to pay a few life to make their creatures more aggressive.

Designing Duel Decks
Hey folks. I'm pleased to announce a new guest columnist for Goblin Artisans. Please welcome Jake Mosby. This article was originally posted to MTG Salvation.—Jay Treat
Introduction
There are countless formats and ways to play Magic: The Gathering, and there are just as many different ways to participate in amateur/custom Magic design. Some people enjoy designing single cards. Some people enjoy participating in design challenges. Many embark on the journey of creating an entire custom set. But strangely, few custom designers focus their energy on creating one of the best tools to develop design skills: the Duel Deck.

3/21/2017 - The harpy challenge earlier this month got me thinking about harpy tribal, for some reason. When I think of harpies, I imagine them in a small flock, attracted to dying victims.

CCDD 031617—Stream Forder
Cool Card Design of the Day
3/16/2017 - I was playing a Limited game online a while back and was struck by the distinct moment when my strategy switched from primarily aggressive to totally controlling. I observed that the benefits of racing as I had been were dropping slowly but that I wasn't far from establishing sufficient board control to reach inevitability.
What if there were a card that helped a player switch from aggro to control?

3/15/2017 - Vampire Nighthawk is the new let's-make-callbacks-to-this-broken-card card. Deathgaze Cockatrice, Insatiable Harpy, Aerial Responder, and Gifted Aetherborn are all examples. So here's another, in vehicle form.

3/14/2017 - I tried to make a variant of totem armor where you can save a creature by enchanting it when it would die, perhaps for a return to Theros where aura keywords are viable.

Cool Card Design of the Day
3/9/2017 - We don't usually want to reward players for doing nothing (because if the reward is substantial enough, they will, and nothing ain't fun), but helping a player comeback from a position where they can't do anything seems reasonable.
Walk with me.

3/2/2017 - Inspired by MaRo's review of dual lands, in particular the ability to choose to use your land immediately or let it enter the battlefield tapped… How about a dual land that ETBT, unless you need the mana immediately (and colorless will do)?

Cool Card Design of the Day
3/1/2017 - This creature costs {B}{B}. If you don't have double-black at the moment, you can pay {2}. The cost is that you have to pay {2} again next turn. We could use echo as an alternate casting method so that it makes cards easier to play, rather than just faster.
