CCDD 030317—Bad Cairns

Cool Card Design of the Day
3/3/2017 - Here's a bonus CCDD I made before MaRo's review of dual lands, but is sure relevant to the filter lands he discussed.

Graven Cairns is a little too good. Shadowblood Ridge is little too weak. I think Bad Cairns fits nicely between them. (There are other decent options, like Ridge plus {T}:{C}.)

I was tempted to share the below version because it's aesthetically pleasing, but not enough to justify its awkwardness:

  1. I think the M11 lands are the logical evolution of filter lands.

That said, If like to see something like this:

T: Add B to you mana pool
T: Add R or U to your mana pool. Activate this ability only if you control a basic swamp.

  2. I love the aesthetics of the second Bad Cairns. Why did you decide to make the mana switch what it produces instead of amplifying (B makes RR instead of BB)? I can see merit for each option, but I'm curious what others think are the relevant reasons.

    1. If it only amplifies, than it isn't fixing your mana like most dual lands; it only helps you to cast spells with heavy colored mana requirements.
