Cool Card Design of the Day
1/1/2014 - Eventually, it outgrows its planter…

  1. I think having defender and gaining "may attack as though it doesn't have defender" is the better templating choice. That way the text box has "defender" clearly on the first line as the "default" state, and as a bonus it plays better with Vent Sentinel. ;)

    1. Recent templates definitely agree with you. I'm not convinced.

  2. The flavor is weird. Dragons are big red flying creatures. This is a nonflying green Plant.

  3. I really like cards like this in Green, cards that build up and then eventually turn on into a beast. Obviously Krosan Beast is the most memorable, but Monstrosity seems like it fits this as well (and is probably more Green than anything else, in the abstract).

It's arguable that this style of card is recently closer to Blue, like Harbor Serpent, or Ludevic's Test Subject. But the latter is clearly a green card on both sides, and I think a question could be raised about what makes a lot of Blue's serpents really blue.

    1. Apparently, Scute Mob is not the most memorable, but that's what this design reminds me of the most.

If you want to discuss blatent color pie violations in this area, Dakkon Blackblade would probably merit some discussion.

  5. Reminds me of Traproot Kami. I think this could plausibly cost less.
