Hey Artisans! Click through to see this weekend's design challenge. Your mission is to design a custom Magic card that follows the guidelines. Over the course of the weekend, give feedback to your fellow designers on their designs and incorporate their feedback to iterate on your own. I'll try to offer some feedback of my own starting on Monday.
Design me a Demon creature. You know the type: rare or mythic, mono-black, big flying creature, some form of downside (usually). For bonus points, have it use a mechanic that hasn't been used on a Demon before.
Good luck and have fun!

could have included a downside that relates to making it harder to use other graveyard synergistic cards, but i felt it just cluttered up the rest of the card unnecessarily.
Wow, I'd forgotten that there were no demons with escape. Great choice, and I love the twist on the escape cost.

When ~ etb, each player silent bids life points. The players that bid the highest, loose that much life and draws that many cards.

for the demon challenge, i was considering making a orzhov. (demons being so obsessed with contracts and so on) but this is a more interesting concept than the extort thing i was considering.
DeleteInteresting how this rewards aggro decks since you can bid something the opponent doesn't dare top. I think it needs to cost 5 at least but "silent bid" (which Magic normally templates as "secretly choose"-- see e.g. Menacing Ogre) is definitely a good Demon idea.

When Blood Lust Frenetic Demon deals combat damage to a player, you may draw 2 cards.
At the end of combat on your turn, if you haven't attacked with Blood Lust Frenetic Demon, discard 3 cards.
Dash 2BB ( You may cast this spell for its dash cost. If you do, it gains haste, and it's returned from the battlefield to its owner's hand at the beginning of the next end step.)
Dash is a solid choice here and I like how you made it synergize with the drawback. (Did you mean for the drawback to also trigger if you cast the demon in your second main phase?) Not persuaded about the combat damage trigger though-- it's a little much on an already aggressive body, especially since flying + trample means it almost always connects.
