Cool Card Design of the Day
2/5/2014 - Indignant Root is based off an idea Nich presented a couple weeks back. What about a defender that can fight specific creatures? In this case, the result is something hardier, but much less dangerous than Royal Assassin. What do you think?
It seems like there's a simpler design waiting inside this one.
ReplyDeleteNo question, this could be simpler. It would just need to be weaker and/or rarer too.
DeleteHmm, this design is harder to execute in a flavorful way than I'd assumed. The best I can suggest is "T: CARDNAME fights target tapped creature. Activate this ability only as a sorcery." That makes sure you get at most one use per turn (so that you can't block a creature and then fight another one, for example).
DeleteDefender seems superfluous because a creature with repeatable on-board removal probably isn't going to want to attack anyway. Definitely not this one, whose job is to sit there and wait for your opponent to let you two-for-one her.
ReplyDeleteThis can't attack players at all.
DeleteBut point taken, esp on the two-for-one.
Riffing...

Creature - Spirit
Defender
As long as an opponent controls a blue creature or a black creature, CARDNAME has +4/+0 and can attack as though it didn't have defender.
0/4
I'm not sure the 0/4 needs Defender...
DeleteI also feel this is a pretty potent sideboard card... maybe at Rare?
I like that this is a plant that's really good against Zombies (tend to be 2/2s that come into play tapped).
ReplyDeleteThis is a card that I saw a guy named Crypt Rat tweet some while ago. I don't remember the exact name, stats, or activation cost.

T: Tap target creature. That creature fights CARDNAME.
This is quite flavorful. I'd be happy to put this card into a set.
