Cool Card Design of the Day
I don't know what the story is behind this pair of designs, but they were clearly made in the same batch (despite telling rather different stories), and aim to depict necromancers.
Ossomancer is super fun, great template. I do kinda worry about having an unbounded number for the skeletons. I'd imagine seeing it Exile all creatures from a graveyard (all graveyards?) when it enters and then being done.
Hmm, yeah. Thematically, they're using the zombies as a shield, but the way this card is set up, you attack with it every turn and sack a Zombie if you need to, but why not since you just made one? Needs work. Probably trigger zombie-machine off of spells cast or creatures dying or something.
At the very least I'd make him a 1/1 so he's weaker than his zombies. I think that helps the resonant flavor a little bit. I'm also not sure why he's got Wizard tribal going on. He should probably just give himself indestructible (and on that note, flicker feels more like 'cowardice' to me, but that's not really black).
I wonder if you could justify giving a flicker ability to black if you tie it to something like life payment or sacrifice?
Though I guess they've started doing that with instants that bring the creature back from the graveyard immediately if it dies that turn. That doesn't really fit cowardly though either.
Craven Necromancer 2BB Creature - Human Wizard When CARDNAME attacks, you may pay 2 life. If you do, create a black 2/2 Zombie creature token. Whenever Craven Necromancer would be dealt damage, sacrifice a Zombie you control. If you do, prevent that damage. 2/2
Thrall Harvester 1BB Creature - Vampire Shaman When CARDNAME attacks, you may pay 2 life. If you do, create a black 2/1 Zombie creature token. Damage that would be dealt to CARDNAME is dealt to target Zombie instead. 2/3

ReplyDeleteThat necromancer does not seem terribly cowardly to me.

DeleteAll fair. Thanks, Sage.
