I was reading the
Vivien Reid story, and thought how her signature weapon might be captured on a card like with
Pyromancer's Goggles,
The Chain Veil, and
Sword of the Animist.
I'm comfortable with it not being thoroughly green, although it's not especially
not green. Forgot to cost it. Maybe call it 5 or 6?
Of course, Vivien's deal is that she collects a menagerie of critters from different planes, but that is (unfortunately?) best captured in silver border land.
Mimic Vat for comparison.
ReplyDeleteMight be wrong, but I feel it would be ok to make the activate cost fixed like Mimic Vat. It's only going to last for one turn anway.
DeleteNot too familiar with Vivien's lore, but can she call upon spirits multiple times? If not, you can put the card into the graveyard after the activation
Based on the chapter of the story posted today, she can repeatedly call on the spirit of a specific animal the bow has imprinted
DeleteSeems quite weak in comparison to Mimic Vat. The only benefit you get above Mimic Vat is the choice between multiple creatures, and some pseudo-graveyard-hate I guess. I don't think that's worth 2-3 extra mana up front and 2-3 more mana each time you get back something good.
ReplyDeleteIt also doesn't feel very Green. I get that it's not Green and doesn't have to feel Green, but I'd expect some stronger ties to green.
I'm not too familiar with her backstory, but I think I get the gist of the weapon. What about something that represents the creatures she's already got in her arsenal?
The Arkbow - 6
Legendary Artifact
XGG, T: Choose flying, trample, deathtouch, first strike, hexproof, lifelink, or vigilance. Create an X/X green Beast token with the chosen ability.
That's really just the shell of an idea, and I don't think it needs the GG cost, but the rate seemed too high for just X.
Ooh, I really like this concept.
