Cool Card Design of the Day
3/10/2015 - Morning Mist is a Fog variant. It doesn't prevent as much damage—on paper—but being one-sided might prevent one or more creatures from attacking for several turns.
Playtesting might even show that it doesn't need to cantrip to be worth running in the right decks.
This is a Soul Parry which is guaranteed to never hit anything good. Your opponent will throw her 1/1 into this, let it die, and then go right back to beating your face in next turn.
ReplyDeleteFog effects are already pretty weak; single target fogs are even weaker; forcing you to telegraph it ahead of time and giving your opponent an out makes them essentially unplayable. Is this card intended to be a trap for new players?
My thought exactly. Would be stronger if it was a 'may.' Also noteworthy in that it can't stop shrouded creatures, the way actual Fog can.
DeleteActually, drawing a card and stopping your opponent's attack for a turn (and possibly forcing them to suicide a creature) seems pretty strong to me.
ReplyDeleteExactly. In Evan's example, I've stopped an entire round of attacks just as Fog would have, but I'm up a card.
DeleteIt'd be interesting to test this with the draw on the sacrifice, rather than an ETB. Hard to guess whether that makes more of a standstill or more of an incentive to use some Goblin Diplomats.
