I buy that. I wish we could easily hit either the creature or the player and still have the "attacking that player" clause without the ugly "or that creature's controller" bit.
Show Weakness R Enchantment-Aura C Enchant Opponent When Show Weakness enters the battlefield, ~ deals 1 damage to enchanted player or target creature he or she controls. Creatures attacking enchanted player get +1/+0. Sacrifice Show Weakness at the beginning of your upkeep.
Divulge Secrets U Enchantment - Aura - C Enchant opponent When ~ enters the battlefield, enchanted player reveals his or her hand. Creatures attacking enchanted player have hexproof. Sacrifice ~ at the beginning of your upkeep.
I really want to make a wonky template here like: "At the beginning of your upkeep, choose an enchantment you control. At the beginning of your draw step, sacrifice it." so you could run multiple of this cycle out and only sacrifice one each turn. But Magic-ese makes that template too long to be worth it.
Love cards like this! The combination of effects even makes sense in gameplay - remove a small blocker or threaten to kill a larger one with the 1 damage. I love it.
Taste for Blood R Sorcery Creatures that attack target player this turn get +1/+0 until end of turn. Draw Blood R (Whenever you cast a spell from your hand targeting a player, you may cast ~ from your graveyard for R targeting that player.)
I like the flavor but want it to be even stronger - maybe something like:
ReplyDeleteDraw Blood
R
Sorcery - Common
~ deals 1 damage to target player. Until your next turn, creatures attacking that player get +1/+0.
Though this version is much weaker (outside of a multiplayer format), it really drives home why the two effects are linked.

Creatures attacking enchanted player get +1/+0.
Sacrifice Show Weakness at the beginning of your upkeep.
I could see that in a multiplayer product.

"At the beginning of your upkeep, destroy target enchantment you control" would work in a wonkier set. Except in Black.

Neat!
DeleteProbably too hard to design with safely, but worth exploring.
