This is a lot of words for an ability that will almost never be relevant. Who is going to chance throwing a kill spell at this thing except as a last resort? What hexproof loses in interactivity it gains in elegance.
I can't guarantee that people will target this, but I certainly wouldn't want to assume they won't without trying it. Swords to Plowshares still kills this 40% of the time and Murderous Cut is often better than 90%. Whether or not that justifies the wordiness is up for debate, but it's certainly adequately different gameplay.
Icepeak Denizen 2URG Creature - Giant At the beginning of your upkeep, reveal the top card of your library. If the revealed card is a Mountain, CARDNAME gains hexproof until the beginning of your next upkeep. 6/6
Creates a deckbuilding challenge for the owner because the giant itself is three color, and also allows the opponent to know ahead of time whether or not it can be targeted. Plays into the flavor of the giant only being able to hide behind mountains because he is so big.
I like the idea of "Counterbalance on a stick" though. What if he counters any noncreature spell cast by anyone? A sort of "Ruric Thar Counterbalance"?

ReplyDeleteQuite so.

DeleteAnd, uh, I guess if you're really desperate you can target it with your own spells to scry.
Delete"But my dual land is worth $20 and your Doom Blade is only worth 5 cents."
ReplyDeleteI like this design a lot. Including "worth"... I think.

Not sure 'Mountain' is that much more interesting than 'land' but I like it.
DeleteNot sure about "worth". It could work.

Make it a rare and that sounds pretty sweet.
Delete*looks at your original card again*
DeleteI thought that *was* rare.
Certainly could be. Probably should.
